Greetings church family:
And we are a family. A family is made up of many parts: Parents, children, aunts, uncles,
pets, and more children. If you look at our church, you see an overflow of young people!
Our Sabbath School classes are full of them, our choirs, our musical groups, and even our
deacons are doing the work of discipleship and getting kids involved. This is a beautiful thing
to see, and even better to experience. We are, and are becoming even more so, a church
that has chosen to live out a discipleship model of Faith development and integration. To see
young people involved in every aspect of church life is to truly take on the work of the kingdom of God. After all, our values and beliefs are not simply taught, but caught. In our service
today, we are focusing on young people and the importance of ministering to them in relevant
and exciting ways. We are also involving a great number of young people in the service. This
will be a special time for graciousness as young people are stepping up to the platform to
partake in the worship event! I don’t have to tell you how important your unmitigated support
of them will be.
I think back to a famous text about young people: Mark 10:14. “Suffer the little children to
come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God.”
I am always taken with the word SUFFER, and wonder if the real conversation didn’t sound a
little bit more like this: “let those little guys up here! I need my hugs!” For as you know, where
there are children there is an abundance of love, hugs, and high-fives!
Thank you for worshipping with us today, and beyond today, thank you for supporting generational ministries here at LLUC! It is truly a privilege and blessing to be able to work with all of
the young people at this church! Even for those of us who aren’t quite so young anymore. . .
Grace to you, and peace.
