Sermon Notes:
Christ-followers around the globe will join together this weekend in the celebration of a rough-hewn cross and an empty tomb. Those events form the foundation not only of our faith, but of our hope. Without those two simple symbols and what they represent, we would, of all people, (to allude to Paul in 1 Corinthians 15), be most hopeless. But the tomb is empty! Praise God! Take note of four memorable quotes to underline the significance of this season of the Christian year: The empty tomb of Christ has been the cradle of the Church. – Pressense Without the resurrection there will not be a Christianity – Christianity stands or falls with the resurrection, and this single factor makes Christianity remarkably one of a kind. – Steve Kumar Christianity does not hold the resurrection to be one among many tenets of belief. Without faith in the resurrection, there would be no Christianity at all. . . Once disprove it, and you have disposed of Christianity. – Michael Green If the thing happened, it was the central event in the history of the church. – C. S. Lewis So join me as this weekend we sing and celebrate: Christ the Lord is risen today! Hallelujah! Randy Roberts, senior pastor
