Sermon Notes:
This coming Friday evening, May 3, at 7 p.m., our church begins a week of revival (May
3–11). The students on our campus have a similar kind of experience three times a year—
one week of each quarter (except for summer quarter), they spend a week focusing on their
walk with God. As a church, however, we have seldom taken the time to focus an entire week
on our experience with Jesus. But we are about to do it! Each evening at 7 p.m., and three
times on both Sabbaths, Lee and Marji Venden will talk with us All About Jesus. I invite you—
I urge you—to join us.
I have, however, another challenge, and it relates to today’s sermon. There is, no doubt,
someone you know who used to attend church. They have become discouraged, busy, or
angry, and they now no longer attend. Could I also invite you—urge you—to invite them to
come? It just could be a week that changes their lives! It is also true that you know someone
who doesn’t know Jesus, but who would be open to talking about him. Pray for and invite
them to come.
That’s the kind of story we consider today. Found in the gospel of Luke, it is the story of a
man who, because of the faithfulness of some friends, encountered Jesus and, when he did,
Jesus changed his life. I hope that you will be that kind of friend this week.
We will see you this coming Friday evening at 7 p.m.!
