Sermon Notes:
Today, we continue our series “The Next Step.” It is in this series that we keep asking this question: “What is the next step in your discipleship journey?” As disciples of Jesus Christ, we know that this life-long, life-changing journey can be a beautiful one, one that will bear much good fruit in our lives if we just keep taking the next step! We live in a messed-up and out-of-control world, wouldn’t you agree? Everywhere we look things seem to be falling apart. At times our own personal lives seem to be shaken, looking as though there are no answers to help us navigate through life’s difficult situations. As Christians, we know that things here in our sinful and temporary home are not going to get any better. So, how can we survive the turbulent times in this world and in our own lives? There has to be a tangible answer that will get us through until our time on this planet comes to an end. Paul, in his last letter to Timothy, gives his protégé some insightful wisdom that will also help us. It is in this letter that you and I will find the tool to help give us stability and all the answers we need to make it through this life, not just somehow, but triumphantly! Are you looking for something to help you in your current situation? Are you trying to figure out what the next step in your discipleship journey should be? If your answer is yes, maybe you need to take a “Step Down.” Together on this journey,
Joelle Reuer, Pastor of Discipleship
