Scripture Reading John 20:26–29, TNIV - Marino and Daisy De Leon
Sermon Notes:
This weekend, Christians the world over celebrate the events of Christ’s passion—his
death, burial, and resurrection. That seminal weekend two thousand years ago changed the
trajectory of human history. It also gave a content to our faith that absolutely changes our
approach to life and death.
The apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians regarding the conviction that those who die in
Christ will be raised to life. To underline the critical nature of that doctrine, he wrote: “For if the
dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised,
your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those who have fallen asleep in Christ are
lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all others”
(1 Corinthians 15:16–19, TNIV).
Such is the vital nature of the resurrection that we celebrate this weekend. My prayer is that
you might know its reality, its power, and its hope! Praise be to the risen Christ!
Following is an outline of our next sermon series. Join me as we study Jonah’s life and
story—and the God with which he had such a contentious relationship.
