PASTOR'S PAGE Camp Meeting at the Loma Linda University Church means several things. It means great gospel music. It means community activities. It means opportunities to sign up for service with entities like EXCELL. It means visitors and friendship and picnic and Family Fun Night and Bible study and service and… well? What else? There is one more thing—camp meeting means stories. The Bible is the story of God’s relationship with his creation, his world and, in particular, his people. In our study of the Bible as well as in our preaching, we focus on that story all throughout the year. But when camp meeting comes, we focus in a special way on the stories of the Bible and how they intersect with our stories. At this year’s camp meeting, we are focusing on “Tales from The League of Extraordinary Disciples.” For that reason, I am delighted to welcome today to our pulpit Bob Stromberg. Bob is a storyteller extraordinaire! He is, first and foremost, a follower of Jesus. In addition to that, he is a writer, a storyteller, a comic and an all-round great person to be around! Our pastoral staff has been exposed to Bob and his work time and again at the National Pastors Convention in San Diego. Additionally, Bob has visited our church once before—about five years ago—for a family comedy night. I think you will be drawn into the story of Jesus again through Bob’s message. He will present it in his own unique way. May you be blessed. One final word: I hope you join us on Saturday night (August 15) for the family comedy night, at LLA’s Chan Auditorium. Bob will have you laughing till it hurts! God’s best to you today and always.
