Sermon: “Dollars & Sense” Part 3: Simple Life - by Randy Roberts

Pastoral Welcome: Roy and Dyna Ice

Scripture Reading: Genesis 2:4–9, TNIV - Tim and Kim Rawson

Sermon Notes:

I really don’t know any other way to say it than just to come out and say it: money complicates things. Now, when we don’t have a lot of money, we think, “No! Not having money complicates things!” And I would have to agree with that. To a certain degree. After all, if we don’t have enough money, our life is complicated in various ways: How will we pay the mortgage? Where is our child’s tuition money going to come from? How are we going to put food on the table? and on and on. So I get it. It’s true. Not having enough money complicates things.

But I would also argue that having money complicates things. It just complicates different things. For example, if you have a lot of money, you are going to face these kinds of questions: Who are my real friends? When I have everything I need, how do I remember to be dependent on God? How do I remain humble? How do I remain generous?

If the previous two paragraphs are true—and I for one would contend that they are—then the conclusion is obvious: money—or the lack thereof—complicates things!

Today, in the midst of a series titled, Simple Life, we come to a sermon titled, Dollars & Sense. Is there a way to simplify our life when it comes to money?

Join us! And may God help us all to live within our means!
