It’s hard to believe that we’ve come to the last Sabbath of Camp Meeting 2014! It passed quickly, didn’t it? And yet, in what rich ways God blessed us during this past month! I want to personally thank everyone involved in making camp meeting a reality—from each member of the pastoral and church staff and to all the volunteers. Musicians, media volunteers, deacons—all of you have done an excellent job! Thank you!

My prayer is that the missing piece—or two or three!—in your life has been addressed, and that God has filled in your puzzle in a deeper way than was true five weeks ago. Preparation for this series has convinced me, once again, of the unspeakable blessings that come to us in our friendship with Jesus!

Finally, the missing piece we consider today is joy. Is anybody out there missing joy in life? You know exactly what it can be like: caught up in the round of work and school and family and business and all kinds of obligations, and then one day coming to the realization that it is all drudgery. Where did all the joy go?

To such matters we turn our thoughts today.
