Welcome to LLUC Camp Meeting 2017! I am excited that you have chosen to join us for this special time in our church year! These next five weeks will provide us with an opportunity to worship together, study Scripture, serve others, pray together, play together, and, especially, learn about and focus on the health of our most important relationships. Our focus this camp meeting is on the Song of Songs, also known as the Song of Solomon. It is a book in Scripture which we seldom read and preach from even less often than we read it! Any number of reasons may be the cause of that: it is in the Old Testament, and we tend to gravitate to the New; it is written in ancient imagery and metaphors, which makes it hard to understand; it is a poem about love or a love song, and not everybody is interested in such; or it is just plain difficult to understand. But whatever might be the reason why we have not spent more time with this song, this camp meeting season we will! And, in so doing, we will focus on the relationships in our own lives, learning ways to deepen and enhance them— biblical ways to enhance them. I want to thank the many people who have contributed untold hours of work, prayer and preparation for our camp meeting: from generational ministries to prayer ministries; from the office staff to the pastors; from music to media—all are in some way contributing! To each I say, thank you! One invitation: our LLUC Prayer Ministries team is sponsoring a five-week focus on the power of praying for your adult children. This will take place during the Sabbath school hour (10:30–11:30, Sabbath mornings) in the Prayer Place. Joining this group in prayer could change your life—and your child’s life, too.
