Pastoral Welcome: Miguel and Linda Mendez
Scripture Reading: Genesis 2:4–9, TNIV - Stew and Linda Harty
Sermon Notes:
Last week was a wonderful beginning to Camp Meeting 2015! I am so pleased you’ve joined us again today. In first and third services, our theme is Simple Life. In ReLive, our theme is Simple Texts. I think we can all use greater simplicity!
If we are seeking to simplify our lives, arguably the most important place to begin is with our time. That is likely one of the most out-of-control segments of the lives of people in our culture. (We started with that last week). It’s likely that the next item on the agenda of simplification is our physical space. Our lives have become cluttered with things. We trip over stuff in the garage; we gaze disheartened at the stuff scattered all over the family room; we climb the stairs only to find more stuff in the bedroom—stuff is everywhere we turn! And all this stuff creates an undeniable impact on the level of our inner peace … and it complicates our lives.
What do we do about it all? Does Scripture address this issue? Such is our focus today.
By way of reminder: please join us this afternoon at 3:30 (Randall Amphitheater) for the seminar with Dr. Cheryl Simpson, entitled, Organizing Your Life. And don’t forget the books that will help flesh out this year’s camp meeting messages:
Simplify: Ten Practices to Unclutter Your Soul by Bill Hybels
Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown
May God bless you with simplicity.
