Part 2 - Missing Piece: The Missing Piece: Peace - Randy Roberts
Pastoral Welcome - Marvin and Shirley Ponder
Scripture - John 14:23-27, TNIV
Sermon Notes:
Peace. It’s such an elusive concept. It doesn’t seem to matter what facet of human existence we consider, either, does it? On the international scene, wars rage. On the interpersonal scene, families fragment and friendships fracture. At the intrapersonal level, people reach for their latest prescription to calm the inner turmoil. Finally, and maybe most importantly, unrest and uncertainty plague the spiritual lives of too many people—even of Christians. So, simply put, for many, peace is the missing piece.
We are aware of that, keenly aware of it. So we pray for peace, we sing of peace, we dream about peace, and we work for peace. Yet it continues to elude us, at least in any lasting way. In the chaotic cacophony of our lives, where do we turn for peace?
If peace is a missing piece for you, I invite you to join me today as we listen, once again, to the One who said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27, TNIV).
Peace.
