Sermon Notes:

“Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come...” are the words of Amazing
Grace. Has one of the dangers, toils and snares in your life been the emotion of anger? Do
you know what it is to either feel or face the white-hot-heat of ire? If so, you know it’s not fun
on either end of it! Whether facing it in someone else or feeling it within yourself, the questions of why it’s there and what to do about it are compelling.

Not all anger is damaging. In fact, others will often damage one who cannot feel anger! But
how, then, does one strike a balance between anger that is healthy and anger that is unhealthy? Does the Bible help us?

The Bible has much to say about anger—both divine and human anger. It opens a window on
some of its causes, quandaries and cures. Such is our focus today. May God give us courage
to be angry when we should be and grace to let it go when we ought to.
