Sermon Notes:
Every enterprise in which we engage—if worthy and worth doing—will face obstacles. A dream is born; a call is heard; a vision is engaged … and the work of building begins. And, whether or not it’s happened before that moment, it is almostcertain to happen then—opposition emerges and obstacles arise. So what do you do?
Once upon a time, our parents told us, “If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well.” A colleague of mine has a sign on his desk that says, “If you don’t do it right now, when will you have time to do it again?” Both serve to underline the need, in doing a task, of doing it right and doing it well. But what do we do with obstacles? How are they to be faced? Because they will come.
Well, Nehemiah helps us answer. He faced many obstacles and much challenge to the task to which God had called him. What did he do in the face of such obstacles?
To these obstacles we turn our thoughts today as we continue our study s today as we continue our study of Nehemiah.
