Sermon Notes:
Does God want you to protect the message with which He has entrusted you, or does He want you to act in ways that are risky—ways that might cause you to be left empty-handed when He returns? How you answer this question will affect how you approach the practice of Christianity.
This week, as we take a look at Christ’s Parable of the Ten Minas in Luke 19, we need to determine exactly what He meant by it. Is Jesus saying that He is a bullish venture capitalist who values risk over loss, or is He simply talking about using our spiritual gifts and talents in calculated ways to multiply them within ourselves? Does He want us to care less about holding on to what we have than to care about how we can grow it? And why does He get so angry at the individual who protected what he was given so that he might preserve it for His return?
