This past week has been the winter Week of Renewal on the Loma Linda University campus. Right now, Loma Linda University is in the middle of a “Live It” wellness/wholeness campaign. In line with that, Carla Gober (Director of the Center for Spiritual Life and Wholeness on our campus) and I have shared the pulpit throughout the week. Our focus has been on living it. Each sermon has focused on an act, a teaching or a miracle of Jesus that underlines some aspect of how we are to live in the light of his kingdom.

Today, we turn to the story of a widow who lost her only son. Imagine the grief! Imagine the hopelessness and fear for the future. And then imagine what happened when she encountered Jesus and discovered what it means to live in light of the kingdom of God!

I pray that today, we will (re)discover that reality for ourselves.
