Sermon Notes:
If you’ve never inadvertently caused a riot before, you’ve really missed out on what a real life experience can bring. And by “riot,” I mean an angry mob of people trying to get you. Yes unfortunately, I started one, but it wasn’t my fault. You’ll see. Ipromise.
Today we are going to take a look at a riot that took place in the New Testament that shows us there is one consistent response to spiritual success: a big group of angry people that want to get rid of you. But this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Think about it. Whenever we have a major spiritual victory, shouldn’t we expect a large-scale attack by the enemy? We should be prepared for a riot.
Satan loves riots — probably because they usually work and because they are the undoing of God’s perfect harmony. The only thing that Satan can create is chaos, and he seems to revel in creating so much of it that it not only tramples on God’s peace, but it also multiplies beyond what even Satan himself can control.
As we continue to explore this sermon series Acts: The Rookie Church, I’ve got some really great news for you today. If there is a riot storming toward your heart’s door, don’t buckle! Don’t fear. It’s time to celebrate. You’re about to have the biggest spiritual success of your life.
