Sermon: "A Song of Justice" More Than Words (part 6 of 7) by Miguel Mendez

Pastoral Welcome: Shawna Campbell

Scripture Reading: Psalm 82:1 and 8, TNIV read by Edwin Krick & Beverly Krick

Sermon Notes:

The calls for justice echo throughout history. Americans recognize the poetic call for justice by Martin Luther King, Jr. in his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. He inspired a nation to embrace egalitarianism with these now famous, biblically-inspired words, delivered from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial: “We will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.” This and other calls for justice echo from the red hills of Georgia to the rugged countryside of Tekoa to the temple mound in Jerusalem. This morning, we join the psalmist whose lyrics in Psalm 82 add another stanza to the familiar justice tune: “Rise up, O God, judge the earth; for all the nations belong to you!”
