Pastoral Welcome: Otis Coutsoumpos
Children's Feature: Gisè€le Roddy
Scripture Reading: Psalm 23, TNIV read by Edna Maye Loveless and Silvia Davis
Sermon Notes:
The music of the Psalms is living real life in the real world, where two dimensions operate simultaneously–a temporal reality and a transcendent reality. We, as the children of God, are encouraged to live joyfully and dependently on the Person and promises standing behind the heavenly dimension. The seasons of human troubles and triumphs provide occasions for expressing human complaints, con dence, prayers, or praise to our Lord.
Today, the song of the shepherd invites us to live practically. Life often seems to be out of control; yet, all events and situations are understood in the light of divine providence as being right on course according to God’s timetable. Assuring glimpses of a future “God’s day” bolsters the invitation for perseverance to the end. The 23rd Psalm is a song of invitation which manifests a very real and practical theology.
