Pastoral Welcome: Randy Roberts
Scripture Reading: Micah 7:18-19
Children's Feature: Jewel Speyer
Sermon Notes:
American poet and essayist T.S. Elliot once wrote in his poem, “The Hollow Men”;
“This is the way the world ends/Not with a bang but a whimper.” Today, we join the
prophet from Moresheth at the end of his journey. We have witnessed how mountains
melt into wax, dreamt of the day when swords are beaten into plowshares, and even
engaged in a new love affair with justice.
Micah’s trek will conclude with Jerusalem’s bitter exile experience. The pesky prophet,
however, refuses to wind down with a whimper, opting instead to entrust us with a
hope filled and hope-generating-vision; “For who is a God like you who pardons sin
and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance?” At the outset of our
series, we asked the question: What manner of a man is this prophet? This morning,
amidst the turmoil, we turn our attention to the God who drives and inspires prophetic
language.
May He embolden us,
