REASONS FOR HOPE The experience of hope is central to the faith that gave rise to a great educational institution in Loma Linda. Wihout hope, it would have been impossible to imagine a counter-cultural education for the sciences and the health professions that characterizes our University. For over a century students have come here from across this country and around the planet to learn how to offer what we call "whole person care," which includes the capacity to restore hope. Such care goes beyond merely treating a specific injury or illness. Preparation for providing such care must go further than the memorization of facts to seek meaning at the deepest levels and find enduring reasons for genuine hope. We who share faith in God's love have the remarkable opportunity to offer something that is clearly in short supply today -- meaningful hope. --

MEDITATION “During His ministry Jesus devoted more time to healing the sick than to preaching…The followers of Christ are to labor as He did. We are to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and comfort the suffering and afflicted. We are to minister to the despairing, and inspire hope in the hopeless.” – Ellen White, The Desire of Ages, page 350.
