• INTRODUCTION TO THE SERMON

  Today we come to the last in our series, “Jesus: First, Last and Best.” Hasn’t it been wonderful to spend these weeks together focusing simply on Jesus?! For me, there is no greater joy in my spiritual life than to study about, ponder on, and remember the life, ministry, teachings and person of Jesus. So it has been a pleasure to work on the sermons in this series! 

  We come to this last sermon in this series on the Sabbath that is the end of our church’s Vacation Bible School program. It has been a high week! Our church campus has come to life with the voices of hundreds of children! It has been a joy to participate and observe the eagerness, the energy and the interest of all of these kids! 

  In such a setting, no question is more obvious than to ask, So, how did Jesus relate to children? And that is the theme of our sermon this week. The title is: “Jesus: Putting Children in Their Place.” I hope you join us! 

  Now a word about the next few weeks. This will be the last Sabbath I preach at LLUC for a number of weeks. Between preparing next year’s pulpit calendar, some travel and some vacation, I will not be back until Camp Meeting 2011. I will miss being with you. 

  However, I am very excited about this year’s camp meeting. This year’s theme is forgiveness. The title of the sermon series is: “Forgiveness: Scandalous Yet Splendid!” As we have prayed and prepared and discussed and planned, we have gotten increasingly excited about what God may have in store for us! So make plans to be with us all four weekends of August and the first weekend of September. It promises to be a memorable experience.
