Sermon Notes:
We wish to welcome you to our summer communion service. Today you partake in a celebration that gathers together the past, present, and future of God’s creative and redemptive work. This is a meal of thanksgiving to God for the gifts of creation and redemption; it is a meal of communion with each other as we remember the crucified and living Christ who represents God’s gift for the world, and it is a meal of joy and hope as we experience a foretaste of the great messianic banquet that is to come.
Today we come together to look at John’s unique account of the meal in the upper room. We shall discover that service lies at the heart of our communal experience with Jesus, for it is at this table that we come to understand that God’s desire for humanity is to experience life in the midst of loving and sharing communities.
We are here to serve you; welcome home.
