Sermon Notes:
One of the dangers, toils, and snares that many face is fear. Reasons for such
unsettling emotions abound. On every hand, threats loom and dangers lurk. How
do we face or even cope with our fears? We attempt to do so in many ways. Some
have suggested that the proliferation of addictions are attempts to self-medicate the
anxiety and fear we feel. Others point out that patients seeking help with anxietyrelated disorders represent a high percentage of the clientele of therapists. Finally,
our anxieties and fears sap us of the joy that life with Jesus offers.
So what do we do with our fear? Well, the Bible has much to say about anxiety and
fear. Life with Jesus does indeed offer us assurance, courage, and hope even in
the midst of frightening circumstances. It is to such realities that we shift our focus
today.
Courage.
