Meditation:
O! beware, my lord, of jealousy;
It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock
The meat it feeds on. – William Shakespeare, Othello
Envy is resenting God’s goodness to others and ignoring God’s goodness to me. – Rick Warren
It is never wise to seek or wish for another’s misfortune. If … envy were tangible and had a shape, it would be the shape of a boomerang. – Charley Reese
Responsive Reading: (from Job, Proverbs and the Epistles) Paul and Phil Hoxie
Sermon Notes:
Somehow, the stomach bug that’s been seen around town caught up with me last week. Not
one of my memorable weekends! Hopefully, not soon to be repeated! A very special thank
you to Bernard Taylor for his fine sermon—at the last minute, no less!
We return today to where we would have gone last week—to the topic of jealousy and envy
in our series, Dangers, Toils, & Snares. With the interruption of our series, I’ve actually taken
the time to revise the series and add one more sermon. The new outline appears below.
Please join us for next week’s Easter services: Friday evening for Good Friday service and
footwashing; Sabbath morning at first or second service, Re:Live in the middle slot—or all of
them, for the Lord’s Supper.
May God’s grace be yours.
Randy Roberts
