I take this opportunity to welcome to our church those of you who have joined us for the 2015 Alumni Postgraduate Convention. It is always a delight to have you back in our midst!

Today we conclude our sermon series: Unsung Heroes: In the Bible, What Did Women Do? We have, throughout this series, taken careful note of the fact that biblical women were prophets. They guided the nation (both politically and spiritually). They were champions of God’s people, and they served in the upper echelons of spiritual leadership—including even in apostolic circles.

Today, as we conclude, we do so in the home of the close friends of Jesus—Mary, Martha, and Lazarus: Lazarus, the ultimate witness to the power of Jesus over the grave; Martha, ever busy with her work for Jesus. And Mary—what about Mary? What will Mary—the one who sat at the feet of Jesus and listened to his words— teach us?

I can’t wait to find out!
