Pastoral Welcome: Dustin Aho
Children’s Feature: Patty Marruffo
Meditation:
The sense of need, the recognition of our poverty and sin, is the very first condition of acceptance with God. – Ellen G. White
It is Satan’s special device to lead man into sin, and then leave him, helpless and trembling, fearing to seek for pardon. But why should we fear, when God has said, “Let him take hold of My strength, that he may make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me”? – Ellen G. White
Responsive Reading (from Genesis, Psalms, 2 Timothy, and Hebrews) Sydnie Ohm, Miranda Roberts
Sermon Notes:
The dictionary defines shame as “the painful feeling arising from the consciousness
of something dishonorable, improper, ridiculous, etc., done by oneself or another.”
Do you know the experience of shame? It can be overwhelming. Shame can leave
a person asking, “If you knew the real me, would you still love me?” That may, in
fact, be the central question of the shame-based life.
The Bible has much to say about shame. Do the biblical texts on shame offer any
hope for the shame-based person in the 21st century? Is there healing for our
shame? Such is our interest in today’s sermon.
I must add two more brief thoughts. One, a deep and heartfelt thank you to the
members of our Sanctuary Sabbath School who move to Randall Amphitheater
today. It is difficult for many. Please know that your graciousness is profoundly appreciated. And two, we welcome Re:Live to our sanctuary! We are delighted to have
you in our midst!
May God’s grace attend each of us today.
