Pastoral Welcome: Gilda Roddy
Scripture Reading: Acts 2:1–12, TNIV
Children's Feature: Filip Milosavljevic
Sermon Notes:
I’m not a control freak, but I don’t like being in situations where I feel that my life has become out of control either. That’s one of the reasons why I start feeling uncomfortable whenever I take a serious look at how the Bible instructs us to incorporate the Holy Spirit into our lives.
As we continue our series, “That Other God,” this week we must ask ourselves why the Holy Spirit makes us uncomfortable. Are we uncomfortable because we may have to go against our current religious culture? Or, are we uncomfortable because the Holy Spirit may ask us to do something that might embarrass us? Perhaps He will lead us to do things we’ve never wanted to do. What if people misinterpret our new Spirit-filled actions?
I’m so glad that today we have the opportunity to wrestle through this challenging topic together, as a church. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will speak personally to each of us today, will show us the true causes of our fears, and that, ultimately, He will help us face them as God needs us to this Sabbath.
