Sermon Notes:
The first of the three angels of Revelation 14 utters a timeless message. Here’s how John the Revelator depicts the scene: “Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to everynation, tribe, language and people. He said in a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.’” Whatever else is or might be true about this angel’s message, of one thing we can be certain: it is a call to worship God "Worship him!" cries the angel. The echoes of that call continue to reverberate througout the earth.
The question facing us today is, What priority does worship have on the church’s agenda? What priority should it have? Since many different issues demand the church’s attention, it is an important question to answer. Essentially the question is asking the church to answer whether evangelism or service or nurture or discipleship or worship or some other facet of the church’s life is to have first place. What do you think? What should come first? What does come first?
By the time we’re done with today’s study, you might be surprised what the Bible
has to suggest about an answer to that question.
Worship God!
