Pastoral Welcome: Randy and Anita Roberts
Children's Feature: Giséle Roddy
Scripture Reading: 1 John 4:11-19, TNIV read by Gary Carpenter and Marilynn Carpenter
Sermon Notes:
The entire biblical narrative centers on the quest to discover what kind of God, God is. As the story unfolds, God’s name becomes great in the estimation of those who encounter Him because of a particular pattern of behavior that defines the divine character: covenant faithfulness.
In the Old Testament we hear God saying, I will faithfully love you at any and all cost to Myself. No matter your posture toward Me, I will never violate you.
In the New Testament we hear God saying, See, I am here, fulfilling every aspect of My promise to you, loving you to the utter end of Myself. And when I am lifted up on the cross in self-sacrificing love for you, I will draw you back to Me.
In Christ, God has shown His love to be faithful by fulfilling every promise He made through the prophets. Unswerving relational integrity defines the greatness of God’s name and is the sure premise upon which we can pray, “O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act!” (Daniel 9:19).
For our 2017 prayer conference we will explore God’s faithful love as the sure premise of our confidence that He hears and answers our petitions.
