Pastoral Welcome: Shawna Campbell
Scripture Reading: John 14:15–18, TNIV
Children's Feature: Doug Mace
Sermon Notes:
We know quite a bit about God the Father. We pray to Him often and worship His magnificence with reverent awe. We love God the Son and we marvel at the concreteness of his words and actions as he walked this earth as Jesus, the Christ. Those two members of the Godhead we know much about. We strive to grow closer in our relationships with them more and more each day. We pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven,” and “Dear Jesus. . . .” We talk to them.
But, then there’s that other God. God the Holy Spirit. We don’t really talk to Him. That would be strange, right? “Dear Holy Spirit. . . .” That feels kind of awkward, doesn’t it?
We’re not really sure where that other God fits - at least that’s the way we employ Him. We know God the Father is the Judge, and Jesus is the Savior, but what role does the Holy Spirit play?
Today, we begin our three-part series, “That Other God” by looking at the biblical role of the Unemployed God, the Holy Spirit, and what He can do in our church today. Please take a moment and prepare your heart to receive a personal message that only That Other God can bring.
