Sermon Notes:
Advent season! Christmas is almost here! Where has this past year gone?! And yet, here we are on the first Sabbath of Advent. I love this time of year, and love it for many different reasons: beautiful weather here in southern California; the anticipation of family gatherings; the music of the season; kids home from school for vacation; and, well, the list could go on. But most of all, I love this season for the hope it represents. A little Baby, born in Bethlehem’s manger, lights the way out of the darkness, and shows us the face of God.
Our Christmas sermon series this year is entitled, No Ordinary Baby. We will spend our time in Luke 2:11: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” (TNIV). This one brief verse uses three different titles for this extraordinary Baby: Savior, Messiah, and Lord. Join me this Advent season as we consider what these titles for that extraordinary Baby mean for us.
May the hope of that Baby be yours today.
