Part 2: disciple
Prayer: Darold Retzer
Pastoral Welcome: Timothy Gillespie
Baptism: John-Michael Lott - Patty Marruffo
Children’s Feature: Joelle Reuer
Meditation:
Let none pretend that they love the brethren in general, and love the people of God, and love the saints, while their love is not fervently exercised towards those who are in the same church society with them. Christ will try your love at the last day by your deportment in that church wherein you are. – John Owen
The main evidence that we are growing in Christ is not exhilarating prayer experiences, but steadily increasing, humble love for other people. – Frederica Mathewes-Green
My relationship with God is part of my relationship with men. Failure in one will cause failure with the other. – Andrew Murray
Scripture Reading: John 15:12–15, TNIV - Jessica Sabo
Sermon Notes:
May I remind you of the two brief sermon series in which we are currently engaged?
disciple
September 24 the disciple and the Master John 15:1–11
October 1 the disciples with each other John 15:12–17
October 8 the disciple and the world John 15:18–27
Teacher
October 22 The Teacher and His Father John 17:1–5
November 5 The Teacher and His Disciples John 17:6–19
November 19 The Teacher and You John 17:20–26
At the core of these two series is bible study and prayer. After all, if we wish to abide in Jesus, we will have to make bible study and prayer a regular discipline.
For that reason, I invite you to three meetings (two identical sessions). In these I will share
with you what has been helpful to me, both as a pastor and a believer, when it comes to
these two disciplines. Won’t you join me?
