Pastoral Welcome: Gilda Roddy
Child Dedication: Carson Uraine and Ricardo Forbes
Scripture Reading: Romans 1:16-17, TNIV read by Jaime Barros and Henrique Barros
Sermon Notes:
Theologian and author C.S. Lewis once defined faith as “the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted, in spite of your changing moods.” Lewis understands that for Christians, faith is the fuel that drives religious experience, the quill of our confessional statements. Today we continue with our sermon on the reformation by reflecting on sola fide, “by faith alone,” a concept described by Luther as “the doctrine by which the church stands or falls.” I pray for a bold faith that calls us to stand alongside Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli as we boldly declare: Here we stand; propped up by faith we can do no other. I also would pray for a humble faith that would push each of us to our knees as we cry out, “I do believe; help my unbelief.” May God grant us faith.
