Sermon Notes:

It is hard to believe that today Camp Meeting 2012 draws to a close. It flew by! I
begin, then, with words of personal appreciation to the people with whom I have
been privileged to work in planning and implementing this year’s camp meeting. The
pastoral staff and other members of our overall staff here at LLUC are the best! My
assistant, Mary K. Becker, tirelessly pulls all the details together. Bob and Marian
Wagner are without equal. Stew Harty and the media team do a consistently excellent job. And, finally, numerous musicians made our worship times truly meaningful.
Greg Batla is certainly at the top of that list, but many others deserve recognition as
well. To all—named and unnamed—who have worked so hard: thank you!

The city of Monte Carlo in the postage-stamp-sized country of Monaco is the playground of the rich and famous. Anybody with the opportunity—the means—to visit,
to vacation, or to live there (can you imagine?!) must surely be happy, right? After
all, the circumstances are such as to take care of every need … and every desire.
It’s a formula for happiness!

Or is it? Some questions might be in order. Does your happiness depend on your
circumstances? Do all your needs require satisfaction for you to be joyful? Is your
perspective on life determined by your situation? These are important questions.
After all, we all want to be happy, right? And yet we can’t all live (or even vacation)
in Monte Carlo. So what do we do?

To such realities we turn our focus as we visit our last bucket list city—Monte Carlo.
