Pastoral Welcome: Darold Retzer
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 2:1-5, TNIV read by Camilo Grant and Cylie Lyn Primero
Sermon Notes:
If you’re like me, you chuckle every time you see a commercial for the latest fitness gadget that promises to melt away your fat and reveal your true, chiseled framework underneath. “Just strap this band around your belly, and the electrical impulses will do all of your sit-ups for you!” “Just take this pill!” “Drink this shake!” “Cut out carbs!” The ideas and gadgets seem to be never-ending, but deep down we all know the poorly kept secret: If you want to get fit . . . you need to exercise. Perhaps we are attracted to all of these get-fit-quick fads because we don’t particularly enjoy the practice of exercising. It may be that exercise seems boring. The thought of committing to a consistent regimen immediately calls to mind a long list of other things that need to get done in our schedules. Today, we will look at the holy habits of reading the Bible and praying with a degree of high repetitions to see how this might help us grow the spiritual results we desire.
