Sermon Notes: Disparity is something we encounter in life in some form almost every day. The social inequalities of gender, race, income, and education, to name a few, are almost so common they seem like fixed realities in the universal structure. Jesus once told a parable about a rich man and a poor man named Lazarus. It’s actually the only time Jesus ever used a proper name in one of his parables. It’s an interesting story, to say the least, about family and strangers, wealth and poverty, heaven and hell. It’s really a parable about disparity. A cursory reading of the parable might leave one confused; but at its heart, the message is crystal clear. Join me as we hear the clarion call of Christ, to join God in his work of renewal, reconciliation, and redemption. Tyler Stewart Pastor for Young Adults
