We grow as human beings when we are willing to periodically go back to basics
and ascertain whether or not we are still following the right course of action. This is
even more important in the arena of our spiritual lives. Going back to basics not only
reminds us of the simplicity of the gospel; it also tests the clarity of our understanding of the gospel.

For three weeks, we are going back to basics—Gospel Basics, that is. In this process, our attention will be focused on the early words of Jesus in Mark’s gospel. In
other words, from the very beginning of his ministry, what did Jesus say, and how
should we be living our (spiritual) lives in the light of those words?

We end this series the week before our second annual prayer conference on October 11 and 12. I hope you will plan to be a part of the series and the prayer conference. It just might deepen your spiritual life!

Might our trip back to Gospel Basics serve to remind us each of the true and lasting
beauty of our journey with Jesus!
