Sermon Notes:

Those who count such things say that Jesus had more to say about money and possessions than any other single topic—more than he had to say about prayer or righteousness or his second coming or anything else! Pretty amazing to consider, isn’t it?! Odd, I guess then, thata lot of us preachers—myself included—don’t much enjoy talking about money. Why don’t we enjoy it more?

Maybe because most of us view how we spend our money as our own personal business, and no one else’s! But if we are going to walk with Jesus, we are going to have to accustom ourselves to the fact that he not only has a lot to say about money, but that he says that all our money actually belongs to God!

We’re going to talk about such things for two Sabbaths. Whatever else you might gain from our time together, please remember this (authored by I know not whom!):

Money—
It can buy you a house, but not a home.
It can buy you a bed, but not sleep.
It can buy you a clock, but not time.
It can buy you a book, but not knowledge.
It can buy you a position, but not respect.
It can buy you sex, but not love.
It can buy you medicine, but not health.
It can buy you blood, but not life.
